Making your own Best "Cold Brew" style coffee - the 10-Step Process to Coffee Bliss

I've been developing my own perfect "cold brew" coffee at home since 2015. Since then I've developed techniques to improve the flavor and simplify the process.

Here's my current recipe:

Ingredients Needed:

Dark-Roast Coffee Beans
Water
Optional: Sugar syrup

Equipment Needed:

Coffee maker, such as Mr. Coffee
Coffee Bean Grinder, such as this model by Bunt
A clean bottle or pitcher, with cap
Quality Coffee Filters

Process:

Fill coffee maker with water
Put a new, quality paper filter into brew basket
Grind beans very finely
Put finely-ground beans into filter
Turn on machine to start brewing process
Turn off coffee maker immediately after brewing. DO NOT DELAY!
Put used grounds and filter into compost bin
Let brewed coffee slowly cool to room temperature (roughly 4 hours)
Pour contents of brewing carafe into a bottle
Put bottle in refrigerator overnight.

Enjoy black, or with your favorite additives. Note that sugar syrups are more effective in this brew, in comparison to granulated sugars. This is due to the measurably lower sugar solubility within cold coffee.

Sodastream Carbonator Leakage, Usage, and Weight

SodaStream 60L "Carbonator" CO2 cylinders have a specific weight when empty, plus about 410 or so grams for the CO2 they should have when they're "full". A little while ago I went to buy a replacement Carbonator from my local hardware store. The dealer pulled a new Carbonator out of the box and sensed it was lighter than usual. MacBook: burnt out magsafe connector repair

My MacBook (A1342 model from 2009-2010) stopped working, thanks to a cheap knockoff magsafe charger. The magsafe connector looked burnt with heat-distorted melted plastic and some black carbon surfaces. Plugging in the charger resulted in no lights and no action. My MacBook was dead. First I tried to clean up the connector with some Q-Tips, tooth picks and solvent, but that did little, as seen in this "after" picture (below). The heat generated by the aftermarket charger permanently deformed and distorted the MacBook's magsafe connector. Clearly the damage was significant. Burnt Magsafe Connector - Replacement Required! Robust Installation of an HDHomeRun Networked TV Tuner. 64 OTA channels!

I added an HDHomerun (HDHR) over-the-air (OTA) streaming box to my home network, bringing over-the-air broadcast TV to my computers, phones and tablets. The HDHR is a big upgrade from my previous setup: using a simple "window mount" antenna directly connected to my TV. Repairing a MagSafe Charger's Cord

Here is how to repair the cord of Apple MacSafe power adapters. There are three common failure modes of a magsafe wire: The base of the cord becomes frayed where the wire enters the power brick. This is usually caused by repeatedly wrapping the cord far too tightly around the brick's "ears". The head of the magsafe connector becomes frayed. This is usually caused by repeatedly removing the magsafe magnet by yanking on the cord. Chewed up cord. This is where a pet or other pinching device weakens the cord. An unfinished attic can be an extreme environment for electronic equipment, with conditions that are very unlike what is experienced inside normal living spaces. What's the deal with installing electronic equipment in an unfinished and uninsulated attic? I wanted to install a standard WiFi router in my attic to function as a Wireless ISP (WISP) gateway. My attic is a fantastic location from a radio signal perspective, but it is an uncomfortable place for both people and electronic gear.
